While in the process of closing and cleaning up old files, we have noticed some discrepancies with the HBL and the monthly report. I want to take this opportunity to bring this issues to your attention so that we can try to avoid such issues for future shipments. First we want to make sure that we are all on the same page and that we all understand the procedures in issuing OBL, TELEX/SURRENDERED, EXPRESS/SEAWAYBILL.

When sending us the pre alert and documents, we often receive the DRAFT HBL copy. We understand that DRAFT are issued to shipper to get their confirmation on how the BL is to be issued or if they will require OBL or TR or Express Released. However, the actual BL (whether ORI, or COPY) should be confirmed before vessel sails. There is no reason why we can not get the actual BL copy from your side.
